Hi JP,

I saw your name on the list of PhD graduates at convocation on Friday. I was at the afternoon ceremony to send off a few of my favorite students. I think you were part of the evening's convocation, if indeed you went. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS!

And I imagine that the diagonal lines you are discussing above are also very important. Certainly my ideas about my waist have changes as I try to link my opposite side shoulder well to the kua...

Best,

D.

Yeah, I think so. The body doesn't swing around like a door on one kua because each kua has it's own center.

Ol' Wally Wallington is doing something truly remarkable with those blocks, however. He definitely knows how to use 4 oz. to move 1000 lbs.

Here here! While training on Daqingshan in May, I strained my right knee because I was letting it drift to far to towards the left. In order to remind myself to keep it straight I tied a bandanna around it during practice. This 'flag' proved a good reminder and my knee sorted itself out in a few days. Of course once my knee was aligned, I began to really feel the work in the right kua!

Thanks for your comment, Todd.

I think what you are saying makes a lot of sense. Would that explain how we can have a hinge-like action while still having a true center in the middle of the kua?

I think this video only highlights things happening in two dimensions, while the rotations of the kua are in three dimensions... What do you think?

Bonjour J.P.!

I think ultimately neither kua "moves" but only rotates either vertically or horizontally like a ball and socket universal joint. One is the anchor while the other delivers power.

Just getting settled back in Ottawa after a month on Daqingshan. I'll be posting more as I get through the backlog!
